Our August 7th gathering will be a double bill.

Bill #1 will be our August Zocial at Tanner’s Bar and Grill at 143rd & Metcalf on the Southeast corner. Let’s start gathering about 6:00 p.m. for refreshments and food.

Bill #2 will be Powell Observatory in Louisburg. About sunset we will caravan from Tanner’s out to Louisburg to be stargazers for the evening. Powell Observatory is a privately funded and constructed Observatory. Their homemade telescope is truly impressive. A bonus for the fact that members of the Observatory set up their own telescopes in the lot for gazers to enjoy. If you’ve ever wanted to see the rings around Saturn or the moons of Jupiter, this may be your chance.

Admission is $5 per person. Please have exact change.

Powell Observatory is located at 10297 W. 263rd St., Louisburg, KS.

Looking forward to Z-ing you there!!

Bummer, that is our dinner club night. I really like this venue. We will have to make the trip on our own some evening this summer. Sad

Just a reminder and update.....

The sun sets at 8:23 p.m. so we'll be heading out of Tanner's around 7:45 p.m. Feel free to meet us at Tanner's and caravan out or just meet us at the Observatory.

Click on this link to get more information on Powell Observatory and a great map.

A donation of $5 per adult and $3 per child is suggested/requested. Exact change is suggested.

A word of caution, watch the speed limits especially in Louisburg! They are as low as 20 to 25 mph!!

Obviously, if it's raining or cloudy we'll have to postpone Powell Observatory but we'll meet at Tanner's regardless!!

I have been trying for years to get to some of these gatherings, and have been extremely unsuccessful at it. Looks like I can make it to this one. Although the Z wont be Crying or Very sad Bad head gasket prevents any long driving. My V8 swap has not been coming to fruition in the manner I had planned. So, Brand X car will be the chosen ride for the night. I shall disguise it as a Z by placing several pics, of many from all angles, on it's flanks in hopes that the other cars wont feel there is an outsider amongst them.

One of our mottos-especially for social events-like this is "We don't care what you drive to get there...We just want you there!!

Looking forward to seeing you again.

Did I mention......

I suggest you bring bug spray, lawn chairs, a small flashlight, and ???

Hey if you have a telescope at home and have never figured out how to use it bring it with you. Maybe someone from the ASKC can give you some pointers.

I know it's bring what you got. Thats one of the biggest draws of this club to me. It's not JUST about the cars, and social hierarchy. Lets just have fun.

Thanks to all who made it last night. We almost totally filled the back room at Tanner's.

Powell Observatory was amazing. The sky was cloudless, every star in the universe was out, a cool breeze, the Milky Way was visible in all it's splendor (I first thought it was a cloud), and I saw at least 5 shooting stars. What a great opportunity to sit, soak in the universe, and reflect on your life...in a good way.

BTW, I found out they do NOT appreciate you turning on a flashlight inside the silo with the big telescope. (Jeez people. I was trying to be helpful. It was so dark in there you could see where you were walking!)
